Prospective comparative 6-month observational study examining the combined effect of oral semaglutide plus levothyroxine versus levothyroxine alone in patients with comorbid T2DM and hypothyroidism—a clinically common combination. The combination produced additive improvements in lipid profile, glycemic control, and body weight compared to levothyroxine alone. Provides evidence that oral semaglutide is safe and effective in hypothyroid patients on thyroid hormone replacement—relevant given animal studies suggesting GLP-1 RAs may affect thyroid function and the thyroid cancer precautions in semaglutide's labeling.
