Researchers discovered that ferroptosis, a recently identified form of cell death involving iron accumulation, plays a role in tooth pulp inflammation (pulpitis). Using advanced single-cell analysis, they found widespread ferroptosis-related gene changes in inflamed pulp tissue. Thymosin alpha-1 treatment reversed these ferroptosis markers in both cell experiments and rat models, reducing inflammation, suggesting it could be a novel treatment approach for pulpitis.
