Demonstrates that plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDCs) protect against allergic asthma in the effector phase through an airway epithelial cell-dependent mechanism involving thymosin β4 expression. In house dust mite-sensitized mice, pDC depletion worsened asthma, and the protective pDC effect required epithelial Tβ4 signaling. Tβ4 mediated pDC-driven suppression of T2 inflammatory responses. Identifies a novel pDC-epithelium-Tβ4 signaling axis in asthma immunosuppression, with implications for Tβ4 in allergic airway disease.
