This study measured immune-suppressing cells called myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) in the blood of 50 lung cancer patients before and after thymalfasin treatment. Lung cancer patients had significantly higher levels of these suppressor cells compared to healthy people, and thymalfasin treatment substantially reduced MDSC levels in both blood and tumor tissue. The findings suggest thymalfasin could help strengthen the body's natural anti-tumor defenses in lung cancer patients by reducing these immune-suppressing cells.
