Prospective study of 35 lung cancer and 34 breast cancer patients measuring serum MOTS-c and humanin before and after radiation therapy, comparing levels to healthy controls. Evaluated how radiotherapy alters circulating mitochondrial peptide levels and whether baseline levels associate with treatment response or toxicity. Provides the first oncology-radiotherapy clinical data on circulating MOTS-c dynamics—establishing how therapeutic radiation affects systemic mitochondrial peptide signaling and whether MOTS-c may serve as a biomarker of radiation-induced mitochondrial stress in cancer patients.
