Nanoparticles coated with a hyaluronic acid-KPV combination were loaded with teduglutide, a peptide that promotes intestinal tissue growth, to create a dual-action treatment for inflammatory bowel disease. The KPV coating determined whether the nanoparticles suppressed immune responses — particles without it provided tissue healing but no immunosuppression, while those with it did both. The platform demonstrates how peptide surface modifications can tune the therapeutic profile of drug delivery systems.
