Prostate cancer proteomics study identifying TMSB4X as a key mediator of cancer-associated fibroblast (CAF) reprogramming in the tumor microenvironment. Using cell type-selective metabolic labeling and secretome analysis, Tβ4 was identified as a prostate cancer cell-secreted signal that reprograms normal fibroblasts to CAFs. Tβ4-driven CAF conversion promoted tumor cell invasion and growth. Identifies TMSB4X as a paracrine driver of the immunosuppressive prostate cancer stroma.
