This study found that a cell-penetrating MOTS-c analogue enhances memory and attenuates amyloid-beta and LPS-induced memory impairment when administered peripherally. The cognitive benefits were mediated through AMPK activation and inhibition of neuroinflammation, suggesting MOTS-c could be a therapeutic candidate for neurodegenerative conditions like Alzheimer's disease.
