Plasma proteomics study comparing major depressive disorder (MDD) and bipolar disorder patients against controls using LC-MS/MS. Thymosin β4 (TMSB4X) was among proteins significantly altered in both disorders—elevated in MDD and bipolar patients relative to controls. TB4 along with other proteins constituted a shared dysregulation signature across mood disorders. Suggests TB4 may be a systemic biomarker of neuropsychiatric disorder activity, potentially reflecting neuroinflammatory or synaptic actin dysregulation.
