The EDR peptide (Glu-Asp-Arg) has shown consistent neuroprotective effects across cell and animal studies by entering cells and influencing the activity of genes involved in cell survival, antioxidant defense, and signaling pathways relevant to Alzheimer's disease. This review synthesizes the molecular evidence and proposes that EDR acts partly by modulating gene expression through interactions with histones and RNA. The peptide is presented as a candidate therapeutic for Alzheimer's disease.
