Preliminary animal study testing thymosin β4 mixed directly with adipose tissue at grafting to improve autologous fat graft survival in rabbit ears. Both 5 and 10 μg/mL TB4 concentrations significantly improved graft retention (assessed by serial MRI), preserved adipocyte viability, and enhanced vascularization versus PBS controls. This foundational fat grafting study was extended in later work to molecular mechanisms (PMID 38409346) and ADSC exosome approaches (PMID 36445571), establishing the field of TB4-assisted fat grafting—an important reconstructive surgery application.
