Human stem cell-derived neurons were used to screen the neuroprotective potential of two classes of compounds: melanocortin peptides (including Semax) and endocannabinoids. All tested compounds protected neurons against oxidative damage without causing toxicity. The endocannabinoid N-docosahexaenoyl dopamine showed the greatest protection (~70%) in dopamine-producing cells, while Semax provided ~40% protection — validating stem cell-based platforms as useful tools for early-stage drug screening.
