Tandem mass tag (TMT) proteomics comparing plasma proteins in pediatric ventricular septal defect (VSD) patients versus healthy children. Among 66 significantly altered proteins, thymosin β4 was differentially expressed in VSD patients. Pathway analysis linked altered proteins to platelet activation, complement cascades, and metabolic pathways. Adds congenital heart disease to conditions with altered circulating TB4 levels, suggesting TB4 plays a role in congenital cardiovascular pathophysiology and identifying it as a potential biomarker for monitoring VSD-associated hemodynamic stress.
