Tests glycine-thymosin β4 (Gly-Tβ4)—a biomimic derivative of natural TB4—in topical solutions and in situ hydrogels for treating corneal alkali burns in rabbits. Gly-Tβ4 treatments significantly improved corneal epithelial recovery, inhibited pathological neovascularization (which causes opacity), and accelerated stromal healing. In situ hydrogels provided sustained Gly-Tβ4 delivery at the ocular surface. Demonstrates TB4 peptide modification combined with hydrogel delivery for corneal alkali burns—where healing promotion and neovascularization control are simultaneously needed.
