Semax protected liver cells from stress-induced damage in rats subjected to chronic emotional and pain stress. It normalized liver protein production and reduced elevated liver enzyme levels in the blood, with the protective effect becoming stronger at higher doses. The findings point to Semax's utility not just as a neuroprotective agent but also as a stress-limiting drug that shields organs outside the brain.
