Demonstrates thymosin β4 prevents angiotensin II (Ang-II)-induced cardiomyocyte hypertrophy in neonatal rat ventricular cardiomyocytes. TB4 pretreatment reduced Ang-II-induced cell enlargement, hypertrophy markers (ANP, BNP, β-MHC), and fibrosis proteins through regulation of the Wnt/WISP signaling pathway. Identifies TB4 as an anti-hypertrophic agent against pressure overload-driven cardiac remodeling—relevant for treating hypertensive heart disease and preventing the cardiac failure that follows chronic Ang-II-driven hypertrophy.
