Patients with diabetic retinopathy — nerve damage in the retina caused by diabetes — were treated with Semax either via nasal drops or through a more direct delivery method using electrophoresis applied near the nose. Both Semax groups improved across multiple measures of visual function compared to those receiving only standard diabetes care, with the electrophoresis group showing the most durable effects, lasting up to 12 months. The findings support including intranasal Semax in rehabilitation programs for diabetic eye disease.
