Investigates thymosin β4 subcellular localization and trafficking in HepG2 hepatoma cells under serum starvation stress using immunofluorescence and electron microscopy. Normally cytoplasmic, TB4 redistributed to the nucleus and to the cell periphery under nutrient stress. Earlier immunoelectron microscopy (PMID 25835495) established the same cytoplasm-to-nucleus translocation in this same cell line. This study extends the characterization of how metabolic stress drives TB4 nuclear trafficking—relevant to TB4's transcriptional co-regulatory functions that are activated under cellular stress.
