Elucidates the molecular mechanism by which thymosin β4 promotes oligodendrocyte differentiation, identifying p38 MAPK activation as the key signaling pathway. TB4 treatment of rat neural progenitor cells and mouse OPC lines activated p38 MAPK, which drove oligodendrocyte progenitor maturation into myelinating oligodendrocytes; p38 inhibition abolished TB4's pro-oligodendrogenic effect. Establishes TB4→p38 MAPK as the molecular signaling axis for TB4-driven remyelination—complementing the EGFR and miR-200a mechanisms from other studies to provide a multi-pathway picture of TB4's remyelination-promoting activity.
