New derivatives of the compound 3-hydroxypyridine (SK-100 and IBKhF-2), along with Semax, were tested for their ability to protect against oxygen deprivation in mice and rats. Unlike some comparison compounds, these agents extended survival time by 25-40% in models of acute oxygen shortage and pancreatitis-related oxygen deprivation. SK-100 and IBKhF-2 worked in both species, while the comparison compound SK-170 was only effective in rats.
