Demonstrates that intranasal Selank administration regulates BDNF (brain-derived neurotrophic factor) expression in the rat hippocampus in vivo. BDNF is critical for neuronal survival, synaptic plasticity, and memory formation. Finding that Selank modulates BDNF provides a molecular mechanism linking its nootropic effects to neurotrophic signaling pathways.
