Uses alpha-[¹⁴C]methyl-L-tryptophan autoradiography to map BPC 157's effects on regional serotonin synthesis in rat brain. Acute BPC 157 (single dose) reduced 5-HT synthesis in dorsal thalamus, hippocampus, lateral geniculate body, and hypothalamus, while increasing it in substantia nigra and medial anterior olfactory nucleus. After 7-day dosing, BPC 157 reduced synthesis in dorsal raphe nucleus and increased it in substantia nigra, lateral caudate, nucleus accumbens, and superior olive. Documents region-specific serotonergic modulation—consistent with BPC 157's effects on depression, anxiety, and dopamine/serotonin interaction.
