Compares enkephalin-degrading enzyme activity and Selank's behavioral effects in high-anxiety BALB/c vs. low-anxiety C57BL/6 mice. High-anxiety BALB/c mice had shorter enkephalin half-life in plasma. Selank extended enkephalin half-life and produced anxiolytic effects only in BALB/c mice—establishing a direct link between individual anxiety levels, enkephalin metabolism, and Selank's therapeutic efficacy.
