This study showed that Semax, a synthetic ACTH(4-10) analog, prevents enhanced nitric oxide generation in the cerebral cortex of rats with incomplete global cerebral ischemia. Unlike glycine, Semax effectively reduced excessive NO production, suggesting a specific neuroprotective mechanism relevant to stroke-related brain injury.
